I Was Robbed Twice on the Same Day

I’d like to share a short experience I had with phone snatchers and how I was robbed twice on the same day. So I was travelling from Bolga to Sunyani somewhere in 2009. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a straight car so I had to do transit through Techiman.

We arrived in Techiman quite late, around 1am, and by then the station was virtually empty, just one tea seller. The night was cold and I remember I bought a cup of tea and proceeded to lay on a nearby bench afterwards (I was really tired). That was it, I dozzed off!

When I opened my eyes, which I believe was some few minutes later, I felt light in my pocket. When I checked, I realised my pocket had been cut with a blade maybe, and my wallet was gone. Sosket!! Alarmed and in awe, I sat up with tears in my eyes. I knew no one and my money was gone too!

Suddenly, a young man approached me and asked me why I was alone and crying. I briefed him on what had happened and he said he knew the guys who did it, and that I should follow him, he’ll get it back for me. I was just 16 years oo, naive, knew nothing about the way the world worked and it was my first time travelling alone.

Long story short, after we exited the light, into one dark turn, another guy joined him and they become hostile and aggressive, wielding a knife and asking me to empty my pockets. They took my phone (then Motorola L6), and even trouser chain.

Afterwards they made me to run away as though I was rather a thiefπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ So the whole thing was orchestrated, and they were the same people who robbed me when I was asleep earlier! Techiman ‘pipoos’πŸ˜‚. Hard guys. How I got to Sunyani is a story on it’s own πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Now anytime I travel through techiman, I have vivid playback of that day!
