Adedunmade, a Twitter user living in Ikeja, Nigeria has bribed Ikeja Electric to provide him with light after 10 days of no light.
His tweet read, “Pls join me in begging @IkejaElectric to accept my sacrifice of onions and soda, my meter has not accepted tokens for 10 days now, i have called about 8 times and all i have gotten are apologies and empty promises. Everyone has light apart from me.”
Ikeja Electric, one of Nigeria’s leading electricity companies, rolled out a prepaid electrical metering system in 2019 which led to the launch of the National Mass Metering system on 2nd November, 2020. The metering system hasn’t been without issues and Adedunmade’s case isn’t peculiar.
Surprisingly his sacrifice worked. Well, let’s say his viral tweet worked because he got his request answered.
No one has asked if he wanted them to use the onions for stew and top it up with the drink though.
